In 1999 Pemberstone’s Leadership Team were having discussions with other property companies around ‘this internet thing’, ‘there must be something in it’, what do we do?’ Our Chairman Ralph Catto had worked with Pemberstone before so they approached him with this question.
In 2000 they started in earnest addressing the question and two members of staff were ‘borrowed’ from Pemberstone. One of which was John Carthew (Director of Product) plus the official first hire was Gareth Evans ( Senior Business Analyst)
By 2001 HP entered the Local Authority market winning Medway LA (Local Authority) as a first Social Housing Client
Between 2001-2004 HP were dominant in Choice Based Lettings and Housing Registers; possibly being the first core system all delivered via the internet in the Social Housing Market
In 2004 HP won a central government contract to improve an existing service around housing mobility and grew its success – 60% in 2 years!
By 2007 the central government decided it didn’t need to fund a mobility service anymore so HomeSwapper was launched as the alternative
and the rest is history………
